Many companies in the Network Marketing/MLM industry have adopted the definition of insanity as being, and I am paraphrasing here, ”Continuing to do the same thing with the expectation of different results.”  I heard somewhere that this was a definition coined by Einstein.  Never researched to verify it’s origin, but I think it makes a good “common-sense,” (which I am sure every seasoned Network Marketing/MLM professional has discovered is not common at all), definition. 

One of the biggest draws to Network Marketing/MLM Home Based Business is our offer to STOP the Insanity of working 40 years, for 40 hours a week, with the intention of living off of 40%, of what most people can not live on at 100%.

Yet, so many Network Marketing/ MLM companies encourage their home based business owners to act insanely.  People are told to continue to do what has not been working for them, ie. 1) prospecting everyone within 3 feet of them,  2)buying leads, 3) going back to their warm markets again and again 4) passing out company literature and business cards at coffee shops etc. 

There are some people that do well at those activities, maybe 1%.   But guess what, it does not duplicate.  Personally, I’ve built Network Marketing/MLM Home Based Businesses in various different companies into the thousands, but doing it the old way, only produced about 2 people that were able to duplicate.

From a business standpoint, when you are getting those kinds of results you need to revisit your processes.  It is called “Continuous Improvement.”  Something is wrong in your Network Marketing/MLM Home Based Business building process if you are not getting the results that you want.  This means you need to make adjustments and try something different.

Look at it this way.  No company executive would tell you to continue to do something that is not working, because if they did, they might not being an executive for long.  You are the Chief Executive Officer of your Network Marketing/MLM Home Based Business.  Not making “Continuous Improvements” in your business processes when you are not getting the desired results is ”insane!”

“The Crazy Fly.”   A good friend of mine and very successful internet Network Marketer/MLMer shared an interesting analogy with me in a book he read today.  See if you can relate this to your Home Based business.

Here is the analogy.  There is a fly that wants to exit a room.  It begins to fly into the closed window and drops to the floor.  With great tenacity it gets up an tries again, and again and again,to meet the same end.  It dusts itself off, backs up and with greater determination slams into the window again.  Eventually, the fly is bruised, battered, exhausted and dies (or quits).  See any similarity in your Network Marketing/MLM Home Based Business?

Here is the irony, 5 feet to the right was an open window.  It could have explored what was right next to it and been flying high today.
